Preston Rubsamen

Designer, B.A.S.I.C. INC Founder

Beginning an educational journey in the field of medicine and engineering, finding myself in my second semester of college struggling through my courses. Strangely enough it was this semester that changed my focus from medicine to the world of architecture. With this new focus came a new respect and understanding for the environment and how we impact it. In the field of medicine your duty is to the patients. In the field of architecture your duty is to the environment and your clients best interests. By utilizing knowledge acquired through experience and years of higher studies blended with application of contemporary technologies B.A.S.I.C. INC has the confidence to create sustainable mindful designs. Generating a healthier environment while maintaining the needs of the users with intent of maximizing functionality and longevity.

Design Philosophy

Whats your philosophy?

Design is a practicing art; the creative process intended to solve a problem and fulfill a need. A fusion of history’s best practices and innovative technology brought together into unique design resolutions. Which brings up the question, “What is my philosophy towards the topic of design?”
Over the years of practice and study, my designs and how I express those designs resemble something of an immaculate brutalist nature that is softened by earthy elements. With a goal to embrace natural aesthetics without losing the integrity of functionality of a building. I am invested in modern design while recognizing the need for architecture, design, and construction of uncompromising quality with positive impact factors. Just a few of these factors include: green features, water efficiency, bio-based materials, and effective energy alternatives. Focus on creating healthier environments that enhance occupant’s comfort and performance, inherently positively influencing the environment. I do this by practicing a comprehensive approach to help clients with the defining, planning, and implementing their sustainability goals.
